Rockin' Round 3
Today is the last day of chemo for round 3! She is on target to come home tomorrow evening after she finishes up the 24 hour post hydration piece of the chemo. Today has been the first day she has had nausea from the chemo and has had a few episodes of throwing up today unfortunately, but she keeps wanting to eat and so far her appetite is unaffected. We will continue to help her eat small bits of bland food until this passes, and the nurses have begun additional medication to help her combat the nausea that she is having. She is such a trooper and has not been afraid. Her spirits have been good all week while in the hospital and her playful goofy spirit unaffected😄.
So thankful if some nausea is the only negative side effect of this round. We feel the arms of Jesus around our baby right now. With each chemotherapeutic agent that they will employ, we have a long list of Likely-Less Likely-Rare side effects in chart form. Our heart aches to read some of the serious effects chemo can have and we pray that whatever discomforts or effects she will have are mild (such as nausea and hair loss). Some conditions can be temporary while other are more serious, permanent, and life threatening. But as we know the dangers of this medication, we also know they can save her life and we are also eternally grateful for them. We so believe the chemo is working. Her abdomen was becoming enlarged and hard due to this growing tumor which had started to grow more quickly at diagnosis but her stomach is now soft and back to a normal size. She is no longer complaining of belly pains and her digestive system is also not constricted due to the tumor size. Although we don't have an additional scan to measure yet, our belief is that atleast the cancer is being killing and its growth halted.
Here are a few pictures of our Charlotte getting to play and be a kid amid the hospital stay. As always thanks for for praying for our sweet girl.
