St. Baldrick’s and Parker Honor Charlotte

March 13, the Carolina Hurricanes will have their annual St.Baldrick’s event. This event will help raise money for pediatric cancer research. I can close my eyes and remember Brian shaving his head in the spring of 2014 with a 6 months old Charlotte looking on. A 3 year old Parker and a 5 year old Taylor asking “why”? With a smile, I teased how daddy was almost bald anyway! We told them daddy was raising money to help sick children get better. Although we had supported a friend or 2 (Trevor and Aaron) in the past by donating and such,  how could we know that we would soon be on the other side in just a couple years. That we would one day be reaching out on behalf of this wonderful organization because we believed that the work they do could actually help save our own child’s life. We couldn’t know then that there were sleeping cancerous cells waiting and hiding inside of our baby girl ...quietly preparing to try and take Charlotte away. That Brian’s own St. Baldrick’s fundraising page back then could have contributed towards research that would directly impact our own Charlotte. Reach back in time and tell me that...and I would have moved mountains then. Done anything, gone anywhere. There was a time our child didn’t have cancer. There was a time we thought we were doing this for other people. Whether we know it or not, pediatric cancer is here and it does affect us all. We HAVE to do better for our kids so that they have treatment options that can help them. Charlotte is here because of some of the work they help support.

St. Baldrick’s asked us if Charlotte would be one of the honorees at this year’s annual Hurricanes St. Baldrick’s event! We will get to go to the hockey game and she’ll even get to ring the opening bell signaling the start of the game!

In addition, Parker’s hair is currently a disaster 😂 . I wanted to cut it the other day but Brian had a great idea (why didn’t I think of this?!?) Instead of another attempt by Parker’s “wanna be hair stylist” mom at giving him a hair cut or just taking him to a proper barber (for the love of God the kid deserves a proper cut once in a while!), Brian asked Parker if he wanted a buzz cut! He agreed! So, he will be able to be a shavee at the Hurricane’s St. Baldrick’s event on March 13! He has his own fundraising page I will post below!

We are so proud to be a part of this evening. Here is a link to Parker’s fundraising page if any of you would like to make a donation to honor Charlotte and help other children. All donations go directly to St.Baldrick's and the work they do. We appreciate all of your love and support!

As for our girl, she is feeling and doing great! We just celebrated Parker’s 7th birthday last weekend and have been busy enjoying family time together. I have so much to post about and lots of things half written (like usual) but I will try to get back to posting more when I can. For now...I’m just chasing after her most days, trying to keep up with the energy of all 3 of our babies, and thanking GOD for every moment❤️🌈
