Aaaand she bounces back

She seems to bloom wherever she’s planted.

After yesterday, here’s a much needed happy update you all! Thank you all for your overwhelming love and prayers. I wanted to share the good of today because we can tell how much Charlotte is loved by all of the outpouring of messages from so many and I can tell yesterday about broke all of our hearts. Guess what? Before my eyes even opened this morning, I heard her get up out of bed and padded her little feet across the floor to her books and toys. I said a behind closed eyes “THANK YOU GOD!” because she was walking again and I knew she must be feeling better today! And she was...she was happy and playful and back to herself. So what MSK said generally happens with kids did hold true for our girl: 3F8 infusion days are rough, but days in between are generally good. So, tomorrow may be rough but I’m hopeful the team can tweak for Charlotte’s specific needs so we can safely manage the pain involved in this therapy. I am hopeful but keep her in your prayers. She started getting tearful when she realized she would need to go back for this treatment 2 more days this week for this first round. She said she was scared of that medicine and rightfully so. But I don’t want our hearts to break, instead I need us to visualize this immunotherapy doing what is intended as it helps mop up any lingering cancer cells hiding undetected.

Today, our girl played and crafted. Today she hung with her new “crew” of 3 other girls she has made friends with. Today, she came with mommy to a nearby hair salon where Candlelighters of NYC arranged for some of us to get our hair cut and styled! Today, she happily skipped back into that hospital for her GM shot appointment that helps this 3F8 work better, fearless and with confidence. Today, she received flowers from some special friends and neighbors. Today she made her favorite thing—slime, and also a tornado bottle with child life here. Today, after dinner here at RMH, she got to hear some broadway singers who came to sing to us at the amazing RMH. Today, she had no pain or fear.  And we know there can be a lifetime of these kinds of days out there for her. It’s what we are fighting for.

Thank you to Candlelighters NYC and Barbara Zobian for the hair salon gift today.

Her happy place: slime
