Elijah
It’s both uneasy yet nice to not have a lot to update on with regards to Charlotte. What spurs me to write this update involves someone who has been laid on my heart:
These days if Charlotte isn’t singing a song, she’s skipping around humming or sitting somewhere sketching or outside riding her bike or playing in the yard with friends or her siblings, or maybe she’s creating some unique craft from her imagination. Her world right now is as we prayed it would be. In this moment, she is a happy and vibrant and healthy first grader. Elijah’s world was once how his parents prayed it would be. But this beast can come back in the night and rob them of a childhood. He is fighting so hard but he is going through a tough time fighting his recent relapse with Neuroblastoma. The new tumor is pressing on a nerve behind his eyes affecting his vision. He is having a hard time seeing even inches from his face and suffering some other side effects from both current treatment and this disease. His condition is not something his parents can mask him from and he is well aware he had to begin chemo and radiation once again. His reality is becoming more transparent the older he is. His mother’s heart breaking trying to answer the simple questions from her 7 year old that seem to quietly dance around wondering about his own survival. Elijah has lost young friends to cancer, as have we. He has wondered about his own time here on earth and how long he might have. How do you go about answering something like this? As a parent you are holding on by a thread, trying to hide your own worries and fears, but provide a strong and united front for your children. They have 6 with a baby on the way.
I post this because this familiy is asking for massive amounts of prayers and I know our village is good at that, but also because sometimes we all need some perspective to help anchor our faith. Especially in today’s time. What are we holding close, prioritizing, focusing on? Is it worth it? Thank you for praying with us for Elijah and his family❤️🌈
(We sent his mom a 3 month subscription to audible to help him have some entertainment with audiobooks he can listen to...I will share any other needs through his moms amazon list if need be with anyone wanting to help support them. .https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2VSDT9UXAT9KQ?ref_=wl_share
