The gift of pizza
Has it really been 2 years now since we were there? During our days that spanned over Sept 2016 through Jan 2018 while on 5200, Duke’s Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Brian came every single Tuesday around noon to come have pizza lunch that was donated by a family we never met. It was a saving grace, this pizza. Brian and I could eat together, which was rare. We could sit with Charlotte in her room, which was necessary because of what she was going through we didn’t like to go far from her. And we could share a meal provided at the same time on the same day every week. Together. That’s how we did any of this, together. There was a family who gave this gift to the families going through the unimaginable. And, it was PIZZA! I mean, who doesn’t love pizza?!
So, when we learned that the PBMT was in need of a new Tuesday pizza sponsor it seemed fitting we step in! And so we will be honored to give back in this small way with the hopes that this gift helps any of the families in some small way while going through the unimaginable. Maybe it’s a yummy free meal. Maybe it’s something to gobble down mindlessly while they nurse their little one. Maybe it provides an opportunity to gather and eat with others as this hospitalization time is so isolating. Maybe it provides a hospital bedside moment for another mom and dad to eat and sit together while they try to hold on. Whatever it is, Brian and I feel blessed and honored to do this this year. We continue to feel God’s grace and love shining down and helping us navigate, even now as we try to finalize some important decisions regarding Charlotte’s immediate future. Please say a little prayer for us as we seek important answers and tackle big decisions. They are never small ones anymore when it comes to her needs. I’ll write more soon and we love and appreciate each of you as you keep pulling for our girl and loving our family.

P.S. I don’t have much of an update on the little ones you’ve added to your prayers, Lincoln and Zale except they have begun more treatment and the results the parents were hoping for did return somewhat positive. Zale has a single spot, boney relapse. Lincoln has some substantial cancer that has returned but his brain scans returned clear. Please continue to keep them in prayers please
