The resiliency of children and good news galore

A grown adult would be nursing themselves for a couple weeks after the abdominal surgery Charlotte just had. Six days after surgery, Charlotte is not only back home but pretty much keeping up with her brother and sister again. Unbelievable! Children are so resilient. Charlotte certainly is. Besides a bladder infection probably from the catheter she had for 5 days, she is recovering beautifully! Her pain is low and managed by Tylenol alone so far. We have a stronger narcotic for break through pain but she hasn't needed it. And her appetite is returning quickly as well. This entire surgery has been a complete success. We feel so blessed. Our 3 amigos are happily playing together again. And Charlotte's battle scar...well it follows the bottom of her rib cage across her abdomin...in the shape of a rainbow❤️🌈. She wears it proudly and understands how "the doctors cut my tumor out. And I feel better".

But wait for it...as if the news couldn't get any better it does. Twice over. 1. Her bone marrow biopsy came back and results are negative!! Although that doesn't mean there are zero cancer cells in her marrow, it does mean we are that much closer to a big goal: Remission. 2. She gets 2 weeks home before her next round of chemo on August 5. And she won't be immunosurpressed from chemo, she won't need weekly blood transfusions due to low red blood cells or platelets because her marrow isn't suppressed with cancer any longer We can have normal, ordinary, extrodinary family time. And we will soak it in and drink it up. Our cup runneth over and we will try to do everything we can to be worthy of all these blessings, and of all of you who continue to pray and care for our Charlotte.

  6. Absolutely convinced your Charlotte's strength and resilience is enormous. SO Happy for all the good news. There will be remission. There will be check ups. There will be possible (few, minor?)long term side-effects from chemo, but NOTHING will be as tough as the journey your family is just getting through! Your village is amazing and inspirational. Keep on going Charlotte!
